Description
The cement planters around the Square are in the process of being painted by Carlinville's own Walldog artists, Berie Gietl and D.L. Whitlock-Gietl. The subject matter is authentic advertisements printed in the Carlinville newspaper from 1926-1930. It was during these years that the original alighnment of Route 66 passed through Carlinville. These planters give a unique look into not only Carlinville's history but what it was like to live in a small Midwestern town during this time period.
